New instrumentals // Dubbel Dutch, Harmonic 313, Murlo

Dancehall instrumentals are often passed over as pieces in their own right, but you’re in luck if you’re on the vocal-free tip. Hot off a feature on Soul Jazz’s excellent instrumental dancehall/dub LP, Invasion of the Killer Mysteron Sounds, Harmonic 313 (aka Mark Pritchard of Africa Hitech fame) is set to release ‘Lion’, which has been sitting around unreleased and inaccessible for around a year, making a few appearances in his sets & even on Rinse FM with Riko Dan vocals. It stands firm as an instrumental, with deep bass, playful bounces & rasta-tipped vocal samples and is set to drop at the end of the month, on 10″ vinyl via Warp.

Keeping it London, HDD family Murlo is set to release an instrumental EP drawing on dancehall, UK funky and some sultry vocal snippets. So far, he’s only unleashed one track for preview but we’ve heard the full EP, and it knocks. Watch for it on Belgium’s Low Up records.

Across the pond, Texan producer Dubbel Dutch is about to drop a series of instrumental dancehall singles as part of the Self-Help Riddims EP coming on Mixpak in 2013. Drawing from dancehall, grime, dub and african pop, it’s definitely some forward-thinking production. Check his promo mix for the release, a heap of new edits & exclusives:
